The Blackwood Alpine Ride

Today the Alpine 100 Ride has introduced the Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail to 33 Specialist Schools; 1,172 Students, 527 Staff – 1699 cyclists in total

Under the vision & direction of Max Woolcock, on Monday, 18th March 2002, 8 Special Schools arrived in Beechworth ready to ride the very first Blackwood Alpine ride.  The event was very well received and thoroughly enjoyed by all participating students and staff.  The weather was perfect, the trail was superb and the atmosphere and experience was positive.  Once again, Max had dared to dream and through his enthusiasm, persistence, dedication and leadership a second Blackwood bike riding event assimilating Special Schools from across the State had been born.
